I have yet to meet anyone who, upon hearing Kandi by One EskimO, doesn’t immediately think it’s…well…cool. The track is a perfect blend of vocal stylings: wispy and mellow from lead singer Kristian Leontiou; powerful and soulful from 70’s gospel-soul great, Candi Staton (hence the song’s title). Both songs sample Country Hall-of-Famer, Patsy Cline, who recorded the original in the early 1960s.
