Until recently, I never understood the appeal of Fisheye lenses—the curvilinear photographs produced they produced always just seemed so…unnecessarily distorted to me. That all changed when I saw the work of German photographer Toko. His work, aside from making excellent use of Color Splash effects, also features extensive fisheye lens photography, an effect which he uses to give his photos a surreal, larger-than-life feel. This photo in particular reminds me of how I must have felt the first time I walked around NYC as a kid, with the looming skyscrapers seeming so large as to almost be touching at the top.
