Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of my old albums and CDs that I felt were getting a bit neglected on the shelf and I happened across Iron & Wine’s hit album The Shepherd’s Dog; an album ranked in the Top 10 Best of 2007 by Paste Magazine. I have to say, three years later, the album still holds its own with some of my current favorite albums.
Iron & Wine a.k.a. folk-rock singer/songwriter Samuel Beam, has been compared to legendary folk acts like Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Young and Elliot Smith and with his virtuoso level acoustic guitar playing, silky-smooth voice that seems capable of creating two-part harmonies with itself, and a flair for composition its easy to see why. The more I revisit The Shepherd’s Dog, the more amazed I am with it.
Check out this stunningly choreographed video for Boy with a Coin, off The Shepherd’s Dog. I love the way they tie in the bass line with the footsteps of the dancers. Awesome.
