It was just over a month ago that I first wrote about one of my new favorite indie groups: Melbourne, Australia’s The Temper Trap. In that write-up I mentioned the band’s rapid, albeit much deserved, rise to stardom on the international platform and how I was eagerly awaiting their next move.Well as it turns out, they had a few moves I missed along the way—like this awesome video for hit single “Fader”—that can more than tide me over.

The photographer in me was blown away by this video and its simplistic yet stunningly creative use of lighting and contrast to create a music video that, unlike most videos these days, accentuated the music rather than detracting from it with bells & whistles or cheap special effects. In fact, I can’t think of a single music video since Linkin’ Park’s epic video forĀ “Faint” where lighting has been used with such skill—or looked so cool.
