Recently a friend and fellow music lover sent me a message with a link to check out the latest band to come out of the California indie music scene: Young the Giant. Having never heard of them, but secure in the knowledge of this friend’s excellent musical taste, I checked out their eponymous debut album—released October 25th. All I can say about the album is, “go pick it up.”
Led by front-man and lead vocalist Sameer Gadhia, Young the Giant blends uptempo pop, anthemic rock, and the smoothness of jazz to create, as one reviewer put it, “the sort of soaring, melodic rock ‘n’ roll that’s bound for greatness.” The album is so good, in fact, that I literally struggled with which video to put up and while I settled on “My Body,” I highly recommend you take the time to also check out their Live at Billboard performance of the sun-bleached pop track “I Got.”
