Here’s the Official #JazzyFizzle video I put together documenting our crazy, music filled weekend at Jazz Fest in New Orleans. It’s got clips in there from most of the bands we saw over the course of three days.

Soundtrack:
Bright Lights - Gary Clark Jr.
End of the World - Hunter Hunted
Up All Night - Daft Punk ft. Pharell

There’s officially three lecture days left in M2. Three. Sure, they are eight hours long each. Sure, we have our Reproductive/Integument module midterm in 11 days, followed by our cumulative NBME Final Exam a mere 5 days later. Sure, after that we have two and a half weeks until Ross’ Comp Exam, testing material from every subject and discipline we’ve covered in the first two years of medical school. But did I mention…THREE lecture days left in M2? FUCK YEAH.

To celebrate the end of M2 myself, Tony Pastarella, Hansy, Rage, The Beard, and Yums have all booked tickets for the entire first weekend of the 2013 Jazz Fest in N’Orleans. What better way to ring in our triumphant return from The Rock than to rock out with the likes of Gary Clark Jr., John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Billy Joel, and BB King?

Here’s New Orleans band, The Revivalists, with “Masquerade” off their album City of Sound. Definitely worth a listen, especially for fans of funk infused rock e.g. RHCP.

Bonus: here’s a Youtube video of them covering “Forgot About Dre” with Warren Haynes (Allman Bros., The Dead, Gov’t Mule) on lead guitar.

I finished watching this live performance of “Wild” by Royal Teeth and actually clapped like I was standing there in the front row. It’s that good. The six piece indie band hails from New Orleans and, like their home town, they blend more than a few genres together to make something uniquely awesome. With their upbeat indie rock, killer male-female harmonies and subtle use of electronic sampling they could very well be on their way to the big time.

You can pick up their Act Naturally EP for free over at Bandcamp.
